Breast Cancer Signs Made Easy with Lemons

At the AiRS Foundation, we’re always encouraging women to check themselves for signs of breast cancer. But how many of us really feel confident that we know how to detect it? Would we recognize a sign of breast cancer if we saw or felt it on our breasts?

Hopefully, we would! But now it’s become a whole lot easier, thanks to a new breast cancer awareness campaign hosted by Worldwide Breast Cancer.

The #KnowYourLemons campaign shows the signs of breast cancer as they would appear in lemons.

These signs include:

  • a thick mass
  • an indentation
  • skin erosion
  • redness or heat
  • unexpected fluid
  • dimpling
  • bump
  • growing vein
  • retracted nipple
  • new shape or size
  • orange peel skin
  • hidden lump

The campaign not only includes helpful images of the signs of breast cancer on lemons, but it also explains how each of the signs would feel to the touch, a step-by-step guide to getting a mammogram, and an easy-to-read breast cancer risk assessment. The #KnowYourLemons campaign has gone viral on social media, with men and women all over the globe sharing this new information about how to detect breast cancer. One of the best ways to ensure an effective treatment of breast cancer is to catch it early, which is why this campaign is so important.
