Dana’s Story: A Journey of Loss, Resilience, and Hope
Dana was just 35 when she received the life-altering diagnosis of breast cancer in 2012. At the time, she and her husband were preparing to begin fertility treatments after years of struggling to conceive. Instead, her diagnosis led to a double mastectomy and a total hysterectomy—suddenly, the future she had envisioned was gone.
Though Dana underwent reconstructive surgery, the results were far from what she had hoped. She was left feeling deformed, with diminished self-esteem and a body that no longer felt like her own. Years later, following a painful divorce and mounting financial strain, the possibility of a revision surgery seemed out of reach.
That’s when Dana turned to the AiRS Foundation.
Thanks to the generosity of donors, Dana was approved for the revision surgery she had long wished for—an opportunity to finally feel whole again.
A heartfelt thank you from Dana:
“I am beyond words! I am so very grateful for this award and absolutely blessed. I have wished for this surgery for many years now. Thank you again for this gift!”
