Introducing, “Dear Cancer, I’m Beautiful.”
I’ve always wanted to launch a podcast, so this past April that’s just what I did. It’s called “Dear Cancer, I’m Beautiful.” For those of you who may not know me yet, my name is Melissa Berry and I’m the Founder of Cancer Fashionista.
I’m an eight-year Triple Negative Breast Cancer thriver, and throughout my breast cancer treatment which included chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy, I struggled to look and feel my best. I didn’t want to look like a supermodel, I just wanted to look like me.
So, I hit the internet for beauty tips and tricks to help manage the appearance-related side effects of my experience, as well as for niche products that would help with my recovery from treatment. I began to track the best advice and items that I found, then shared it all on the CancerFashionista.com blog to reach other women facing similar diagnoses.
Then Instagram and Facebook came into town. So, in addition to sharing my resources on my blog, I now had a whole new way to share my latest finds and expert interviews. The best part? I ended up creating an incredible community of women just like me. Many of which are some of my dearest and closest friends.
I’ve always had the gift of gab, but I never thought I’d be the host of my own podcast. The silver lining of the pandemic for me has been Instagram Live. I mean, for someone who loved talking in class this is the ultimate study break in the middle of the day…to simply hit a button and instantly start talking to all of YOU! What a unique opportunity to pick the brains of hair loss experts, post-mastectomy bra designers and clean beauty brands, while sharing all their valuable insights with all of you!
I realized after doing my “Cancerpreneur” interview series that there are endless topics of discussion when it comes to looking and feeling great throughout cancer treatment and beyond into thrivership. There are also so many incredible resources out there. I’ve decided to launch a podcast so I can have these intimate yet informative conversations that you can listen to at your leisure. While you’re driving, getting dressed, doing your laundry. Everything at your fingertips, all in one place.
